It is not enough for the teacher to love the child. She must first love and understand the universe. She must prepare herself, and truly work at it.

PARENTING WORKSHOP
This workshop will center on the stages of human development, especially those from conception to six years of age, as established by Maria Montessori, confirming her insistence that nurturing and appropriate stimuli bring full growth to both the mind and the body, while inappropriate stimuli and failure to nurture lead to personal despair and social violence. The critical value of Montessori theory today, as both a primary and/or a remedial foundation of a child's life, is made evident.
The workshop consists of three major parts:
- Montessori's discovery of the child, and her vision of human life in the context of the cosmic plan.
- Pregnancy, birth, symbiotic period, movement, language, order, nutrition and hygiene.
- Preparation of the environment for children from birth to 6 years and developmental aids to be used from birth according to the changing needs and capabilities of children.
Helpful hints will be given on:
- Supporting the child's independence at home with simple adaptations
- Working parents - Childcare options
- Obstacles for development
